Motoport Jeans and Kevlar Motorcycle Shirt Part Two

I am sorry it took so long for me to get a review under way, but the Jeans needed an adjustment, so there was a little delay in getting enough bike time for a report.

Every single thing they say about these jeans is true.  They are, indeed, the most comfortable pants I have ever worn on the bike, regular denim included, regardless of brand or weight.  They just feel great.  Even better than the “favorite” jeans I sent down for Motorport to copy.

It takes a little while for the lightweight body armor to mold, but the initial molding takes little more than a first ride.  The padding that wraps around the thighs is taking longer, probably because it doesn’t really get pressured much to mold to the leg.  If I cared, I would store the pants with a couple of rubber bands wrapped around the thigh.

I limit the “most comfortable” moniker to “on the bike”, because 1) I haven’t tried to walk long distances in the jeans, so I would be guessing, and 2)  the jeans were deliberately cut an inch long, so they are longer than I would like when I am off the bike.  This is not a big issue when wearing riding boots, because they can’t drag, but could be an issue when wearing loafers or boat shoes.

Summary:  BIG success.  Motoport will sell a lot of these.

The shirt is a great addition to my riding collection, because it can be used in VERY warm weather.  The weave is so loose you can see light through it easily.  The body armor is almost unnoticable in feel, and adapted to body shape the first time out.  The shirt is lined with nylon to deal with itching, although I have not tried it without a shirt underneath.

I erred in sending Motoport a shirt that was too roomy in the gut.  It was really comfortable in a cotton shirt.  It is a little loose in a Kevlar piece of riding gear.  There is a zipper all the way down the front, and two zippers on the sleeves, so it is easy and fast to put on, and to fit over gloves.

Did I mention that it is light?  I have bothered a number of people by insisting that they hold it so see how light it is.

I do find the kevlar less comfortable than cordura, for sure.  It is stiffer, and I wonder how comfortable it would be to tuck in the shirt.  Again, no experience, so who knows.

I don’t just love it, like I do the jeans, but it is certainly a unique part of my riding gear, and I cannot think of anything on the market that can touch it for warm riding safety.  I have not used my Motoport or leather jacket once since getting this, so don’t be surprised if you find a third post after I use it this summer.

Again, thanks to Wayne at Motoport for taking care of me.
